AMAVET MUTUA
A 39 year old ‘non-profit’ mutual association of 500 persons, consisting of owners, co-owners, shareholders and CEOs of over 700 travel agencies and all the stakeholders of the tourism italian market.
Amavet provides its members, at almost no cost, with personal insurance, casualty, medical, sanitary and pension fund services. The association is run by a 12 members Board of Directors, 8 of which are elected by the general assembly and 4 co-opted amongst leaders of the travel and tourism industries.
A wide range of services are offered to the travel agencies through:
AMAVET FINANZIARIA SRL
A 18 year old ‘for profit’ company, capitalised at US $500,000, majority owned by Amavet. Other shareholders include the Federations of Travel Agents for Lombardy, Tuscany, Venice, Piedmont, Sicily, Bologna and Rome areas who act as agents of the company and offer Amavet Finanziaria’s services and products to those agencies whose owners are not (yet) members of Amavet. The total number of agencies thus serviced exceeds 2.500. The Company offers a wide range of financial and commercial services amongst which:
· Bonding in favour of italian Railways , IATA and Regions
· Exclusive contracts with major telephone and mobile phone carriers
· Exclusive contracts with banks
· Exclusive co-branded Visa credit cards
· Access to Hotel preferential rates through WIN directory (approximately 8000 hotels worldwide)
AMAVET TRAVEL GROUP
In November 2002 Amavet Finanziaria has created AMAVET TRAVEL GROUP, a commercial consortium for the negotiation of preferential contracts with Tour Operators, airlines, road and railway carriers, shipping and cruise lines and suppliers for the benefit of the travel agencies of Amavet members.
Nowdays more than 130 travel agencies are affiliated in the Amavet Travel Group.
AMAVET BROKERAGGI ASSICURATIVI SRL
A registered broker, capitalised at US $ 50,000, presently managing over 3.000 policies on behalf of member agencies: most frequent policies cover bonding in favor of Italian regional authorities (for license to operate), general liability and guarantee vis-a-vis customers, guarantees for IATA, shipping and cruise companies, bus companies, tour operators, both italian and foreign. Casuality, fire theft, flood, etc. Life and pension plans.
Amavet is a member of Win - Worldwide Independent Travel Network, linking some 11,000 travel agencies worldwide.
ESTAR & GENESIS
Amavet is one of the founding members of ESTAR – European Standard Travel Agent Registry, with Head Office in Vienna, Austria created with the purpose of integrating and coordinating the activities of the five travel associations of Italy, Austria, Germany, United Kingdom and Spain. ESTAR is the European coordinator and member of GENESIS, a travel agency-owned and managed distribution system where travel agencies control their own accreditation, booking, ticketing, and settlement platform , thereby saving the industry substantial costs and allowing suppliers to focus on their products and services. Genesis provides travel agencies with new, improved, and innovative technology to enhance travel agency productivity and profitability.
